Once upon a time in Hound Country, lived Bulldog who ruled the land with an iron jaw. As he got older, the other dogs grew brazen before him and they demanded that he gave up his autocratic rule. Bulldog was furious, however, his boxer advisors finally persuaded him to let the dogs decide who their new leader would be.
Even before he had officially given up his crown, the danes were already racing the grey hounds down the streets in front of his palace and making a racket. Poodles pranced their newly groomed coats to garner votes and chihuahuas barked their opinions from the top of railings. Bulldog thought it all pathetic and pointless, but there was nothing he could do.
Or could he?
He had two distant cousins, one from his father’s side and the other from his mother’s side, who got along well with him. Bamboo was goofy and apologetic while White Paws was meticulous and intelligent. Maybe he could get one of them to run for president. But which one? His personal analysts were divided in their opinions: The dogs wanted someone at their level and one whom they could relate to, yet they also wanted someone better than themselves and one whom they could look up to.
In the end, Bulldog decided not to take any chances, so he put them both up in opposing camps. The double cost he had to bear was nothing compared to what he would loose financially if he were to release all his power in government. Also it was an easy plan to get away with because neither Bamboo nor White Paws realized that they were related to each other through him. If either one win, Bulldog could easily play the “cousin-mentor-sponsor” card to get the winner to accept his point of view.
The election came and went with loud fanfare and crazy parties in the streets and in every kennel along it. The dogs loved Bamboo, and just as many loved White Paws, while the other five candidates trailed far behind them. Bamboo and White Paws had opposing views about DogCare, Puppy Training and Interbreeding Policies. One advocated war against cats while another called for diplomacy. The hounds went wild as they sniffed about for any news that would either support or refute the views of one or the other candidate.
Finally the votes were counted and the first democratically elected dog-President was presented to the world. White Paws talked about peace and a better life. He talked about better training and promised better work conditions. His supporters bayed and howled his victory with glee.
In the next two months budgets were planned and bills were passed. A year went by, then two years, then three. Nothing changed. Dogs still hate cats, puppy training was still mediocre and the quality of dog care declined.
Bulldog was happy. Since the status quo didn’t change, his businesses were not affected.

Why does the full moon bring all the crazy people to the politics section of Y/A?A crime was committed.
More than 3000 people died that day.
There has never been a forensic investigation of this event.
No evidence has been put forward.
No-one has been formally charged.
The police and FBI have not charged anyone and no-one is "wanted".
So who is crazy here?

Yes, of course they have mental problems. But they're also ambitious/ optimistic (that is before they actually become a politician, then they're just ambitious). They want ot do something great for mankind/ the people who elected them and think they can change the world through government. Politicians can change the world, unfortunately. Luckily, they don't.
